Group of Bridgeport residents seeks to break with the city

With the British exit from the European Union still fresh in mind, some residents in Black Rock are calling for their section of the city to leave Bridgeport after being slapped with huge tax hikes.

Dozens of Black Rock residents have been expressing their anger on community Facebook pages, with some going so far to say they should break off from the city all together and form their own municipality.

Many Black Rock residents have seen their bills increase by more than $2,000 after the mayor increased the city's mill rate by more than 10 points.

The community is planning to storm the city council meeting Tuesday to show city leaders just how upset they are.
