Police: Fabricated report of assault prompted lockouts

Norwalk police said Saturday that they have ended their investigation into a reported serious assault after the victim admitted to fabricating the story.
As News 12 reported, police responded to a walking trail behind the Rowayton Woods Complex on Highland Avenue Friday after a teen girl claimed a man grabbed her, held her down and fondled her. Two nearby schools went into lockout mode as police searched the area.
Investigators now say they were able to determine that the girl had made up the story.
Police say the community should be assured there was never any threat or danger to the public.
