Police: Man charged in 2 arsons at same Stratford home

A man was arraigned today on charges he set two fires at the same house in Stratford.
Firefighters say they were first called to 2830 Riverview Place, which is along the Housatonic River, yesterday afternoon. They say the back porch was burning, but they were able to put out the flames and board up the home. Firefighters were called back to the scene around 2 a.m. and put out a second fire.
Michael Sherwood, 51, was arrested today. Police say he is charged with arson, criminal trespass, criminal mischief and threatening officers. Sherwood was upset that his friends had to move from the home, according to police.

"He lives right in the neighborhood," says Stratford Police Lt. Frank Eannotti. "I guess he's upset that his friends had to move out when the new people bought the house."
The multifamily home was vacant at the time, according to police.
Sherwood is due back in court July 18
