Stamford police rule death of 2-month-old a homicide

Stamford police on Wednesday ruled the death of a 2-month-old girl from New Canaan a homicide and say they are looking into filing charges against the day care center that was caring for her.

Investigators say the girl went into cardiac arrest Tuesday afternoon after suffering head injuries at the Little Bears Beginnings Daycare Center located at 48 Wardwell St. She died about an hour later at Stamford Hospital.

Workers at the center are being questioned to figure out exactly what happened. Police say they are focusing their investigation on three workers who may have had contact with the child.

Police say the baby's sibling went to the same day care center two years ago and there were no previously reported incidents. The day care is now closed as police investigate.
