Stamford man dies after motorcycle accident

A man died Thursday evening following a motorcycle accident in Stamford.

Police say 30-year-old Jose Chacon-Valverde, of Stamford, was driving last night when he hit a storm drain on West Main Street and Myano Lane.

According to investigators, Chacon-Valverde lost control of his motorcycle and was thrown onto the roadway, where he sustained serious head injuries.

Chacon-Valverde was not wearing a helmet. Police were told it was the first time since Chacon-Valverde started driving a motorcycle 20 years ago that he did not wear a helmet.

Investigators say speed, alcohol and drugs were not factors in the accident.
