Mother of murder victim in Bridgeport voices concern about violence
The mother of a murder victim in Bridgeport said Monday that she's worried about the man just cleared of killing her son.
Belinda McNeil still believes Jamal Hamilton is responsible for her son Savonie's death, but she worries about his welfare now that he has been found not guilty in the Trumbull Gardens shootings.
During the trial, Bridgeport police were so concerned about retaliation and extra violence that they brought in seven state troopers for the verdict. There is a fear of further retaliation on the streets, which happened in another case two months ago. A reputed gang member cleared in a shooting was then killed.
Hamilton is serving a five-year sentence for a drug charge. Police said they're still worried about retaliation on his friends and family.
