Boy shot, wounded near ice cream truck in Bridgeport

Police say a boy just shy of his seventh birthday was shot and wounded in Bridgeport Saturday night.
Witnesses say a group of kids was standing by an ice cream truck near Poplar Street when the sound of gunfire erupted.
One witness says the boy was talking to her and petting her puppy when bullets started to fly. He was hit in the leg and is listed in stable condition.
Police say they have some leads, which surprises some residents who believe a code of silence is smothering the streets.
Others say it's sad, but violence has become a way of life in their community.
