Mosquitoes test positive for West Nile in Bridgeport

State health officials say mosquitoes trapped in Bridgeport two weeks ago have tested positive for the West Nile virus.
The mosquitoes trapped June 24 are only the second group found in the state so far this summer season infected with the potentially deadly virus.
The infected mosquitoes are of a species of the insect that state officials say is abundant in coastal salt marsh areas.
Mosquitoes previously tested positive in the eastern Connecticut town of Stonington this year.
In 2007, West Nile Virus was found in mosquitoes in 18 state communities.
