Stamford makes push to fix dangerous streets

Steps are being taken in Stamford to make dangerous roads safer for drivers.
The city has hired a firm to look at accident statistics and also talk to people who live there.
Complaints about speeders and drivers who cut through Stamford?s streets are common, the city says.
However, some residents say some roads that are run by the state are more dangerous than others.
For Jessica McKeown, High Ridge Road carries more significance. Her husband Jerry was killed by a driver making a left on the road, she says.
Even though High Ridge Road isn't part of the fix, it shouldn?t be ignored, she says.
?My husband was killed in my opinion for something that didn't have to happen,? McKeown says.
?It's a busy road, it's a really busy road,? says Ed Healey, of Stamford, speaking about High Ridge Road.
While engineers say they will pass along residents? concern about High Ridge to the state, people who live near the road say they hope something gets done quickly.
