Scrap metal thief hits Orange home in broad daylight

A scrap metal thief stole more than $2,000 worth of car parts from a home in Orange Tuesday afternoon, and then ran to a nearby rest stop to get away, according to a resident of the house.
Amber Cavallo says the suspect stole four truck tires and rims, a chrome rim and even a broken radiator from an old greenhouse tucked in the woods behind her house that borders I-95.
?The only way you can make money off it is in a scrap yard,? Cavallo says of the metal, which also included 10 batteries.
Orange police say this is the first complaint of a metal thief this year.
