Two Bridgeport men accused of shooting a Westport police officer with a paintball gun faced a judge Friday.
Police say 25-year-old Jaret Ortiz and 20-year-old Octavio Real shot Westport Police Officer Richard Bagley during a routine traffic stop Thursday morning. According to police, when Bagley approached the vehicle, which was stolen, he was shot with a paintball gun. Authorities say after Bagley was shot, a high-speed chase ensued through Norwalk.
Ortiz and Real were eventually captured. However, police say a third man is still on the loose.
Both men are facing charges of assault with a firearm and assault on a peace officer. Real is due back in court April 21 to face four separate motor vehicle charges.
