Norwalk head-on collision leaves woman seriously hurt

A woman is seriously injured after a head-on collision took place in Norwalk Tuesday.
Police say the accident occurred at Newton Avenue and Chestnut Hill Road at approximately 7 p.m. Local firefighters say the woman was driving a BMW and collided with a man driving a small dump truck.
Both cars in the accident were so mangled, fire rescue crews had to cut the victims from their vehicles. It took fire fighters nearly 45 minutes to remove the woman.
Police believe that speed was a factor, though they are continuing to look into additional causes of the accident. People who live in the area are not surprised about the incident. They say people speed down the road all the time.
