Weston committee tackles global warming
The Weston Global Warming Committee is putting up neon green signs around town asking people to stop idling their cars.
The signs politely ask, "For our children please, turn off your engine." They can be found at the library, by stores and by schools throughout Weston.
"We're 5 percent of the world's population and we're creating more than 35 percent of the pollution," says Weston resident Kassandra Strasmore. Members of the committee say leaving a car's engine running leads to air pollution, a big problem in the U.S.
The signs are just suggestions, so the police department will not be issuing fines for idling. The committee is also planning on handing out bumper stickers and bookmarks to continue its campaign.
