Power back on in Bridgeport

Power is back on in Bridgeport Friday following an outage, though the electricity in many buildings was turned off amid repair work. The power outage occurred Thursday when a construction crew hit an underground line. About 3,000 customers were left without electricity. The federal building on Lafayette Boulevard was still dark Friday. Employees arrived at work to find a sign on the door alerting them the building was temporarily without power.Morning classes at Housatonic Community College were also canceled, allowing some students to start next week?s spring break a little early. There were no classes to cancel at the University of Bridgeport, however, as this week was their spring break. All problems were fixed by 10 a.m. and United Illuminating returned full electricity to the area.
