Stamford police probe possible abduction attempt
Stamford police are looking for a man that allegedly tried to lure a 12-year-old girl into his car on her way to school Monday.
The incident occurred near the corner of Hope and Union Street in Stamford, as the girl was walking to Dolan Middle School. According to police, a man driving a blue, four-door car stopped alongside the student and asked her to get in. The student started running and the man sped off, but not before another driver wrote down the license plate and later notified school administrators after driving the girl to school.A letter went home to parents alerting them to the incident and police have beefed up patrols around bus stops and school yards.
Police caution that it could have been a misunderstanding, but say they?ll make an arrest if it?s warranted. Since they have the license plate number, police say it?s only a matter of time before they track down the suspect.
