8 Bridgeport families surprised with gifts of fuel

Eight Bridgeport families have been given a late, but very welcome holiday present.

Massachusetts? Global Fuel has given the families between 125 and 250 gallons of free oil to heat their homes with. Joe?s Fuel made the deliveries free of charge and said the families were receiving between $400 and $800 worth of fuel.

The names were chosen through the Bridgeport Senior Center to help older families living on fixed incomes.

?Property taxes rise, electric utility rates rise, everything rises, and their incomes don't,? said Mayor Bill Finch.

The families are thankful for the gift that will keep them warm and save them money.

?I thank the mayor, and I thank the Lord that they picked my name,? said lucky resident Aurora Cotto.
