Ring finds its way back to owner after 44 years

A Shelton man got the Christmas gift of his life in December when he opened a box containing the high school ring he lost nearly 44 years ago.

John Pierne lost his Stamford High School class ring in the early 60s. Stefanie Kies, a former singer from Old Greenwich, had found the ring and used it as part of her costume when she performed 50s- and 60s-themed music gigs. Kies says she was never able to locate Pierne to give him his ring back. After she stopped wearing the ring in the early 90s, Kies recently came across it while cleaning. She realized with the Internet, finding Pierne would be easier. She contacted the Stamford High School Alumni Department, which got her in touch with Pierne. He was reunited with the ring after thinking he?d never see it again.
