Greenwich home destroyed in fire
A home in the Greenwich back country was destroyed in an early morning fire Wednesday.
Fire officials say when firefighters arrived at 25 Buckfield Lane, the house was fully engulfed in flames. At least 60 firefighters from more than a dozen companies were on the scene to fight the blaze.
Firefighters had to pull water from a pond across the street to fight the flames.
Greenwich Fire Chief Peter Siecienski says the house was the only building involved in the fire. The house where the fire started is a caretaker?s home on an estate. Those living in the home are now being helped by the Red Cross.
No one was injured in the blaze. Fire marshals say the fire began in the kitchen area, but they are still determining what sparked it.
