8-year-old boy hailed as hero in Norwalk

Officials and family members are calling an 8-year-old Bridgeport boy a hero for helping to save his great-grandmother?s life in Norwalk.

Kyan Keel?s mother, Ingrid Motley, says the boy was staying with his great-grandmother Lindy Jean-Charles Sunday when he found her passed out on the floor. Officials say Keel immediately called 911 and moved furniture for emergency personnel before they arrived.

Norwalk police dispatcher Eric Giddiens says he took the boy?s emergency call. Giddiens says he was able to calm the frightened Keel down and gave him directions on what to do.

Paramedics say Jean-Charles is a diabetic and she passed out after her blood sugar level dropped. Jean-Charles says she is very lucky Keel was there in her time of need.

?When I woke up, the police and ambulance was all here and they took me to the hospital and they told me everything that he had done,? Jean-Charles says. ?I said thanks for Kyan, I?m alive today.?
