Doctors: Chronic cough warrants medical attention

Doctors in southwestern Connecticut recommend people with chronic coughs visit a doctor sooner rather than later.
Stamford Hospital pulmonologist Dr. Evan Stepp says if a cough keeps up for several weeks, people should get it checked out.
?It may be an indication that you need to have your asthma medication adjusted or it may be an indication that you have poorly controlled asthma,? Stepp says. ? ? these things are very common.?
Stepp also says that most coughing is not an indication of anything serious, such as lung cancer. However, he says a chronic cough could be a sign of certain ailments, like bronchitis, that need treatment.
