Bridgeport mayoral primary challenge dismissed

The state Supreme Court has denied stateRep. Chris Caruso's request to overturn the Sept. 11 Democraticmayoral primary in Bridgeport. State Sen. William Finch won the primary by 270 of about 9,000votes. He later went on to win the general election and was swornin as mayor earlier this month. Caruso had claimed there were numerous voting irregularities anda major shortage of poll workers that should not be ignored. But the appeal was dismissed by the state's highest court, whichalso refused Caruso's earlier request to postpone the Novembergeneral election. The justices say the appeal was moot because ofthat earlier decision. The court also dismissed an appeal filed by a member of Caruso'sticket who lost by two votes.
