Police probe death of 3-month-old at babysitter's home

Greenwich police are investigating the death of a 3-month-old they say was found inside the home of her babysitter Thursday.

Police say the babysitter found the baby unconscious in the house and called 911. They say the infant was already dead when emergency officials arrived.

The baby was rushed to the hospital and was pronounced dead. Police say the baby's parents live in Stamford and have their friend in Greenwich watch the child on a regular basis.

The baby?s parents told a local newspaper the babysitter told them the child went to sleep and never woke up.

The medical examiner performed an autopsy but the results have not been released. Police are calling the probe a criminal investigation until they know more.
