Fire marshal checks his list twice along Greenwich Ave.

The Greenwich fire marshal and deputy fire marshal checked their lists twice as they visited businesses along Greenwich Avenue Tuesday.

Fire Marshal John Fronio spent the day stopping at every open business to make sure they were up on code compliance. Fronio said they checked everything from properly lit exit signs to holiday décor that could be potential fire hazards.

?What we?re doing today is giving a verbal warning ? we are writing down the names of those with verbal warnings ? and we will be back to check if they are in compliance,? Fronio said.

Business owners received letters warning them about the fire marshal?s visit. Most of the businesses were in compliance.
