State Sen. Finch sworn in as next Bridgeport mayor
State Sen. Bill Finch was officially sworn in as the Bridgeport?s mayor Saturday evening.
The inauguration ceremony took take place at the Klein Memorial Auditorium on Fairfield Avenue. The public was invited.
Hours before the inauguration, Finch told News 12 Connecticut outgoing mayor John Fabrizi gave him invaluable advice. ?He just said ?Listen. Listen to the people and follow your heart,?? he said.
It was a long road to Election Day for Finch. Though opponent State Rep. Chris Caruso contested the primary results in state Supreme Court, Finch eventually won the general election in a landslide.
?I want to make Bridgeport the cleanest, greenest, safest, most affordable city with schools and neighborhoods that get better every year,? Finch said. ?And the way we're gonna do that is put shovels in the grounds and cranes in the air and build our tax base.
His first day in office is Monday, Dec. 3.Other elected officials taking office were also sworn in Saturday night.
