Bridgeport's Steel Point full steam ahead with signing
Bridgeport Mayor John Fabrizi signed, sealed and delivered the Steel Point development project Wednesday with the stroke of a pen.
The undeveloped 52-acre site will be home to housing, stores, restaurants, hotels, entertainment, a marina and more on the waterfront. Bridgeport Landing Development plans to spend $1.5 billion on the project.
Construction is expected to be completed in nine years, now that the city officially signed over the property.
The City Council recently approved the project after decades of debate. The deal comes days before Fabrizi is set to leave office, turning the reigns over to state Sen. Bill Finch.
