Norwalk cop probed for alleged sex act with teen

State prosecutors are investigating a Norwalk police lieutenant for allegedly engaging in a sexual act with a minor, according to the Norwalk police chief.
Police say Lt. Tom Cummings, a 24-year veteran of the force, allegedly met the 15-year-old male victim on the Internet.
Norwalk Police Chief Harry Rilling says investigators seized Cummings? computer at the police department and at his home, where the sex act is believed to have occurred. He says they also want to look at Cummings? cell phone for clues.
Rilling says Cummings is currently not on duty. He says the officer is using his sick and vacation time to seek help at a rehabilitation center for an undisclosed condition. According to Rilling, Cummings will not be on duty until the matter is resolved, but ?cannot be suspended without pay without due process.?
Rilling says there is no indication Cummings was on duty at the time of the alleged sex act.
News 12 Connecticut was unable to reach Cummings for comment.
