Police continue probe into Norwalk-area burglaries

Police in Norwalk continue to probe a rash of recent car burglaries, days after arresting two teens accused of committing similar crimes in or near the Cranbury section of the city.
Police arrested two 17-year-olds on Tuesday and charged them with breaking into several vehicles in the area between Norwalk Hospital and the Oak Hills Golf Course.
Since Tuesday, however, at least 10 motor vehicle and home burglaries have been reported -- most of them in the very same area.
It is still not clear if people are reporting the burglaries a day or two after the fact or if these are burglaries that have taken place after the teens? arrests. One of the burglary victims says her purse was stolen out of her car on either Tuesday night or Wednesday morning. Caralyn Mathews, another victim, says her husband?s truck was robbed on Saturday, but the couple didn?t report it until Thursday.
Police say all the cases are open and they are taking a good look at the two teens they arrested.
