Darien stores struggle to get back on track after storm
An entire block of businesses in Darien continues to clean up flood damage incurred by Thursday?s rainstorm and many are still not able to re-open.
Many of the businesses have been running for decades and are wondering how they are going to stay open after 4 feet of water flooded the area.
Leary?s Liquor Cabinet, open since 1971, is closed after the storm. The insurance company has not yet agreed to pay for the damage, family member say. They say while they wait to find out, they will try to salvage what is left of their store. The Learys say everything that wasn?t nailed down in the store was floating down the street Thursday night.
The owners say they?re grateful for the volunteers who have helped them clean up.
