Police renew call for help in 1999 Stratford murder

Eight years after the murder of a Stratford man, police are renewing their call for help in finding the killer.

Police say even one tip could help solve the 1999 murder of Walter Procyk. The victim, who ran a Stratford convenience store, was shot in the back while in the store?s parking lot. His family says he was able to divulge a few details of the incident before he died the day after. According to the family, Procyk said a man came up behind him while he was at his car and shot him. He also pointed to the direction in which the man fled, they say.

His family says Procyk was well-liked by people in the neighborhood and cared about his customers.

According to police, the murder stemmed from a robbery attempt. A $55,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer. Police say tips can remain confidential.
