The Fairfield County Community Foundation and the Greater Bridgeport Area Foundation announced their plan to merge Sunday.
The two Fairfield County philanthropic groups work to raise money for area nonprofits like Family Centers and the Center for Hope in Darien.
?We're working together in so many ways. Doesn't it make sense to share resources and get our staff together and combine locations?? W. Michael Funck, of the Fairfield County Community Foundation, said.
The director of Darien?s Center for Hope said the merger would greatly help his mission, which relies heavily on donations. He said the two foundations donated $10 million last year to his center last year.
