Offerman pleads not guilty in Bluefish attack

A former MLB All Star says he's not guilty of attacking two members of the Bridgeport Bluefish with a bat during a minor league game.
Jose Offerman made the plea in court Monday morning. He is charged with two counts of second-degree assault related to the alleged August 14 attack.
Offerman is accused of charging the mound after he was hit with a pitch while batting for the Long Island Ducks. He?s accused of hitting Bluefish players Matt Beech and John Nathans, who suffered injuries. Offerman has been suspended from playing until his legal case is complete.
Offerman's attorney was not willing to comment. Offerman is set to be back in court October 17.
