Bridgeport mayor Fabrizi officially bows out of '07 race

Bridgeport Mayor John Fabrizi (D) announced Wednesday he will not seek re-election after weeks of speculation he may re-enter the race.

Fabrizi said he wants to focus solely on the projects he wants to complete by the end of his term. He said the decision was bittersweet, but he knows it is the right one. ?I will miss public life, it's time to move on,? he said.

He said he will support State Sen. Bill Finch (D-Bridgeport) for the position.

Party leaders point to Fabrizi's public admission of cocaine use and his support for an admitted sex offender as reasons why he might not be able to win the ticket.
