Corrupt priest pleads guilty to stealing $1 million
A priest charged with misappropriating more than $1 million from his church pleaded guilty to corruption charges Wednesday.
Investigators say Rev. Michael Jude Fay, the former pastor of Bridgeport?s Saint John Roman Catholic Church, used church money to pay for expensive luxuries such as jewelry, limousine rides and Italian clothing.
Fay pleaded guilty to charges of interstate transportation of money obtained by fraud. He now faces up to 10 years in prison on the corruption charges.
Fay resigned last May after investigators for the Bridgeport Diocese began looking into the missing money. The former pastor will be sentenced in December.
