Redding police release sketch of sex assault suspect

Police in Redding have released a sketch of a sexual assault suspect in the hopes witnesses will come forward.

Police say the assault took place around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Umpawaug Road area.

?She was by herself,? Redding Police Chief Douglas Fuchs said. ?He apparently jumped out of the woods and grabbed her.?

According to Fuchs, the 15-year-old fought back against her attacker. Police shut down a road in the area of the attack to search for the man. They also called in a K-9 unit and a state police helicopter for the search.

Police say they hope to make an arrest soon. Anyone with information is urged to call Redding police at 203-938-3400.
