Elderly man fatally struck by cement truck in Norwalk

A 74-year-old Norwalk man is dead after being hit by a cement truck while crossing Wall Street Thursday.

Casiano Figueroa used a walker to get around and was not in the crosswalk when the truck came around the corner and hit him. His neighbor says he often took the bus to the area and was on his way to the bank when he was hit.

Figueroa lived at the Kingsway Apartments on Westport Avenue, which is a senior housing apartment building. People who live there say Figueroa went to church every day and often carried a rosary with him.

The driver of the cement truck that hit Figueroa is cooperating with police and has not been charged. Police are still investigating the incident and are waiting for additional information before moving forward.Figueora?s family, who lives in Norwalk, says they hope to have him buried in Puerto Rico.
