Fairfield police confirmed Monday that packages have been disappearing off of people's front steps.
Police said on at least three occasions in the past month, a suspect drove down busy streets in the Stratfield section of town and stole packages left by delivery services. The packages are being delivered when the owners aren't home, and police are urging people to take precautions.
"If you know you're ordering stuff to be delivered and you get a timeframe for delivery, you can let the company know what's going on and make arrangements to have it dropped somewhere else a little less assuming in case you're not home," Det. Jason Takacs said.
Police said one of the homeowners saw the suspect and wrote down his license plate. Investigators are now determining if the owner of the car is the suspect they're looking for.
