Fairfield man struck by train in Stratford
Police say a 39-year-old Fairfield man was hit by a train after he stepped out onto tracks in Stratford Friday.
Police say it happened around 8:30 p.m. and that the man was crossing the tracks to get to Stratford Avenue.
The conductor said he was not driving fast and saw the man step right in front of the train. Police say they are still investigating why the man was on the tracks at all.
The accident shut down two of the eastbound tracks in the area and had two other tracks operating on a slower schedule Friday evening.
Police did not release the name of the victim.
