Fairfield police credit Internet with break in case

Fairfield police said going online to fight crime helped them crack a month-old hotel robbery case.

The Fairfield Police Department recently added crime surveillance video to its website and credit a News 12 Connecticut report for letting the public know about it.

Captain Gary MacNamara said police determined the identity of the man who robbed a Best Western hotel after family members of the subject involved saw the video on News 12 and contacted the department.

Police said the case was cleared four days after the report aired.

MacNamara said in cases where it?s not clear who the culprit is, recognizing other characteristics may help. He says that?s why looking at surveillance videos can be useful.
