Parents call for action against mold at Westport school

Parents say their children?s school is contaminated with mold, and now they?re calling for action.
They say the mold problem at Kings Highway School in Westport has caused some children to become sick. The concerned parents have formed a group called the Kings Highway School Clean Air Committee. They say that something must be done about the mold problem before the start of the school year.
Although the school district has told the parents that there are not dangerous levels of mold inside the building, the parents say they sent a letter to the school superintendent asking that comprehensive testing be done inside the building to see where the mold problems lie.
However, the parents say they are upset because much of the contaminated carpet inside the building was removed before extensive testing could be done.
The parents of some of the students are meeting with an attorney to discuss the issue.
News 12 Connecticut's calls to Westport Superintendent Elliott Landon have not yet been returned.
