Heavy rains flood parts of southwestern CT

Heavy rainfall Wednesday morning caused some flooding problems in many parts of southwestern Connecticut.
On White Shade Oak Road in New Canaan, a small pond formed on the roadway causing an SUV to flip over and slam into nearby trees. The driver of that vehicle was able to walk away uninjured.
Lt. William Ferri of the New Canaan Police advises drivers to use extreme caution and slow down when approaching puddles, no matter how deep they seem. He says hitting puddles at high speeds can cause drivers to lose control of their vehicles.
In Stamford, Connecticut Light and Power crews had to deal with downed tree branches that cut off power to some residents.
