Thirteen-year-old boy drowns at Seaside Park

Just days after three children died after the van they were in rolled into a pond, another Bridgeport child died Friday as a result of drowning.
Police say a 13-year-old boy who was swimming with his friends drowned at Seaside Park. They say the incident happened a little after 3:30 p.m. when the boy?s mother started screaming after she could no longer see her son in the water.
Witness Francisco Lopez said he watched as a man gave the boy CPR on the shore. He said lifeguards did not arrive until it was too late.
Paramedics arrived soon after that, but the attempts to revive the boy failed. He was pronounced dead at Bridgeport Hospital.
Mayor John Fabrizi said statements were taken from witnesses including from those who said there weren't enough lifeguards at the beach. Fabrizi said the lifeguard division was fully staffed.
The name of the victim has not been released.
