Third area bank hit in past 4 days
After three area banks were robbed in four days, police turned to the public for help, releasing a photo of one suspect.
The rash of robberies started Friday with a Bank of America branch in Bridgeport. On Saturday, a T.D. North in Bridgeport was robbed. Another Bank of America branch, this one in Fairfield, was hit Monday morning. Police say the robber did not show off a weapon, but slipped a note to the teller demanding money.
Fairfield police say bank robbers are often drug users who need cash for a quick fix.
"They're looking for quick cash to feed their addiction, so they're not thinking there are gonna be caught on surveillance [or] that there are gonna be multiple witnesses," Sgt. Ed Greene said.
Witnesses are how police hope to find the suspect, which is why they released a photo, Greene said.
"A large amount of bank robberies have been solved through the help from the public by pictures we've released in the press," he said.
