Two charged in five-hour Bridgeport standoff

Two people are behind bars after they allegedly held Bridgeport police at bay during a standoff Thursday night.
According to police, the standoff began after 25-year-old Carlos Garcia shot at a person from inside his vehicle on Milne Street in Bridgeport. Garcia's girlfriend, 19-year-old Pamela Monge, was also in the vehicle.
The person, who was not hit, flagged down police detectives and provided them with the vehicle description. Authorities say they located Garcia at a home on Seaview Avenue owned by a family member of Monge. When they arrived, police say they were shot at by Garcia.
After a five-hour standoff, Bridgeport Police Lieutenant Viadero says Garcia gave up peacefully.
Garcia is facing numerous charges including attempted murder. Monge is charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
