Brides descend on Bridgeport shop to reclaim dresses
A Bridgeport bridal shop previously shut down over a rent dispute reopened its doors Thursday so local brides could get their dresses back.
The state locked up the Wedding and Fashion Center on Madison Avenue and posted an eviction notice earlier in the week. The family of Stratford bride-to-be Stephanie Mascia then called News 12 Connecticut in an attempt to get her dress back days before her wedding.
Mascia returned to the shop Thursday as the padlock was temporarily removed. Mascia left with her dress, but said she'll have to take it to another shop to have the alterations completed.
Eartha Willis, the owner of the Wedding and Fashion Center, said she's opening a new bridal shop in Bridgeport at 23-66 Main Street. She also said she'll be there starting this Saturday for anyone else looking to pick up their dresses.
