Bridgeport Mayor Fabrizi won't run for re-election
Bridgeport Mayor John Fabrizi says hewon't seek re-election. Fabrizi took over as mayor in April 2003 amid the corruptionscandal that sent former Mayor Joe Ganim to federal prison. He was elected in his own right that November, but his term wasmarred by an admission of drug and alcohol abuse and recenttestimony on behalf of a man convicted of getting a 13-year-oldgirl pregnant. Fabrizi was expected to face a tough challenge within his ownparty from state Representative Christopher Caruso who announcedyesterday that he would run for the job. Party officials says several other Democrats are thinking aboutrunning for mayor. Probate Judge Paul Ganim, the brother of former Mayor Joe Ganim,said today that he will decide by July whether to run.
