Fire destroys abandoned building in Bridgeport

A fire destroyed a three-story abandoned apartment building and damaged another building in Bridgeport Monday.

Residents say someone from New Jersey recently purchased the now-destroyed building on Carroll Avenue. Officials say the fire started in the trailer between the two buildings.

Some neighbors say they saw some kids inside the trailer playing with fireworks before the fire began. Other neighbors say the kids ran out of the trailer seconds before it went up in flames.

Fire officials say the second building did suffer damage, but can be repaired. The official cause of the fire is under investigation.
