Stamford family shocked to find intruder in kitchen

A Stamford couple was shaken Friday after an intruder entered their home while they were all awake.
After 20 years of living in the same house, Michael Battinelli said his wife was shocked to find a strange man standing in her kitchen. Battinelli said his wife was folding laundry in the living room when she confronted the man, who had entered through an unlocked back door shortly before midnight. Battinelli said the burglar grabbed his wife's purse, which was on a kitchen chair and had hundreds of dollars in it, and ran out the door after she started yelling. Battinelli said he chased after the man, but didn't catch him.
Battinelli's wife accidentally crashed into the wall as she rushed to confront the intruder. She suffered a black eye and other bruises and went to the hospital for treatment.
