Norwalk doctor warns of ice-related injuries

One Norwalk Hospital doctor warned residents to use a combination of caution and common sense when dealing with ice.

Naturally, Dr. David Bindelglass says, ice is very slippery. With the freezing rain and snow coming down, Bindelglass expects the emergency room to fill up with ice-related injuries. He says most injuries involve wrists and ankles, while the elderly are more susceptible to hip fractures.

Prevention leads the way in dealing with ice-related injuries. Doctors recommend wearing bulky clothing, trying to hold on to something or land on your side during a fall.
