Out-of-control stolen car crashes through Bridgeport condo
An out-of-control car crashed through a condominium Saturday, busting the main gas line for the complex and forcing many residents to evacuate.More than 30 firefighters responded to the Glenport condominium complex around 8 a.m. to find a car smashed through the bedroom of unit 16. The woman sleeping on the opposite side of the destroyed wall escaped uninjured. The fire chief says if the car had smashed one inch to the left or right, or if someone had flicked on a light switch right after the impact, the situation could have proved deadly.Bridgeport fire officials say the power is back on and residents are free to return to their homes. Officials say the car was stolen and the thieves may have jumped out of the car before driving it off a nearby embankment.
