Mayor Jim Miron (D- Stratford) says Allied Signal, the former Army engine plant, could have a new developer by early July. The Army, which owns the 77-acre site, recently revoked Stratford's authority to select a redeveloper and plans to re-bid the project itself. The Army is expected to outline its plans on marketing the facility in preparation for the re-bidding process. Miron says the Army will then put the facility up for bid on the Internet and a developer could be selected as early as July 7. The new plan would remove Stratford from the process of selecting a developer, but Miron says that's not necessarily a bad thing. He says Stratford will still have input regarding zoning rules and regulations. Army officials are set to meet with the Stratford Town Council February 1 to discuss the plan.
